9:30 AMWest Side Lumber in Color by Scott Inman

Description: Color photography of the West Side was recorded as early as the late 1930s by pioneer California Railfans such as Alfred Rose and Stanley Snook.  After WWII, color photography became prevalent among railfans, and many photographers visited the West Side to capture scenes of 3′ logging in the west before its demise of revenue operations in October 1960.  The latter two decades of operations, equipment, facilities, wrecks, and personnel were largely captured in color and will be featured.  Fortunately, many original images have been preserved by organizations and in private collections.  The presentation will primarily feature the original works of Al Rose, Robert Hanft, Stan Kistler, and others who captured the West Side’s logging operations, many of which have not been seen or published before.
